Gideon Blake is a career con artist who wound up becoming a murder victim. He had a lengthy history of real estate fraud across the country, using numerous aliases, and there was a federal investigation into his crimes. Under a new alias, he conned a former fraud victim, Dr. Beth Allison, into believing that he was a seer who could speak to her dead patients from pediatric oncology.

Allison eventually found out that Blake was a fraud, and she had a psychotic break and came to believe that Blake would keep the dead children from being lonely if he was dead. As a result, she killed Blake with rat poison, and he died at the restaurant where he was supposed to meet Allison at.

The prosecution sympathized with Allison and ordered a sentence of psychiatric commitment instead of prison. (L&O: " Compassion")
