Dr. Gideon Hutton is a former doctor known for his denial of the existence of AIDS.
History[]
Hutton was a staunch believer that HIV does not cause AIDS, as well as a severe bigot in the medical profession. He came to blows with Dr. Melinda Warner, who argued that his methods will kill others. His actions ended up costing Susan Ross her life after she succumbs to AIDS. During his trial, his case was only hurt by rampant tirades of fictitious conspiracies and reduced quality of healthcare from involvement of diversified groups and treatments.
He is currently serving a five-year sentence in prison for willful negligence in the deaths of Lisa Ross and several others that died as a result of his malpractice. He reluctantly accepted the deal to avoid more jail time. Despite his arrest, he remained defiant and stated that he will continue to voice his beliefs while in a prison cell. SVU also made it their mission to track down other patients in order to protect them from more harm with his research. (SVU: "Retro")
