Officer Gil Sawchuck is an officer in the Neighborhood Stabilization Unit and a witness to his colleagues torturing to death Floyd Michaels, an auxiliary cop, who was murdered because he was black. Sawchuck’s partner and instructor Frank Dietrich made him lie to investigating detectives to cover for the killers.
Sawchuck was suspected briefly from his use of the impounded car that was used in the hate murder, but he was found out to only have obstructed justice and gave up his knowledge of Dietrich participating. Dietrich was sentenced to death along with another one of the killers, Fratelli, after Fratelli’s partner Carlson pleaded down to life without parole for his testimony against them.
Sawchuck’s employment and legal status is left unknown. (L&O: “DWB”)
