Gillian Webster was the cancer-afflicted wife of Kent Webster, unaware Kent was having an affair with photojournalist Dia Nobile and gave Dia's baby to another couple when they sired a baby from the affair.

When Dia kidnapped her baby from the foster parents, Braydon and Josie Leddy, Gillian was horrified when Dia revealed not only the affair, but she was stalking the family as far as befriending the Websters' daughter Hannah. Kent was charged and imprisoned for his actions, leaving Gillian and Hannah in utter shock and picking up after the mess that was made.
Everything collapsed for Gillian when Hannah confronted Dia after she was released on bail and, when Hannah was horrified by a video of Dia and Kent having sex, Hannah beat Dia to death with a healing crystal at her yoga studio. In a panic, Gillian begged the unit to let her confess to the crime, and out of enough pity and anguish, the team accepted and arrested Gillian.
Gillian was willingly falsely convicted of a lesser degree of murder and imprisoned. (SVU: "Vanity's Bonfire")
