Gray Campbell is the socialite father of Carlton Campbell, one of the worst members of the gang trio know as the Moon Bay Crew. Gray not only knew full well of the gang's actions, but personally covered them.
Background[]
Gray was privy to Carlton's active participation in escalating violence from the gang, ranging from beating a teen named Peter Markham to making the most hesitant gang member, Patrick Scott, rape a girl named Amy Reynolds who was lured to a "party", egging Scott on with fellow gangster Logan Rudman, all out of a pretentious dominance over beaches off their high-priced properties. Gray just responded by paying Peter 10 grand as hush money and for medical expenses, while Amy was paid 5 grand and harassed and degraded into keeping quiet out of being threatened with a smear campaign, before she was driven and bussed back home.
Harbor City[]
When surf icon and medical cannabis dealer Trevor Knight was murdered and robbed after he fought the gang vandalizing his shop, Greg simply watched while Carlton burned the gang's wetsuits and money bounty which was covered with blood and trace. When he was served with a warrant and Carlton and Ludman were arrested, Gray just insisted Carlton was innocent. Gray barred investigators from his study, which wasn't covered in the warrant and had his gas fireplace where the evidence was burnt.
A warrant to extend jurisdiction is granted, and traces of the wetsuit and money are found. Greg ignorantly reiterates denial of guilt regarding him and Carlton, but he's soon after arrested for willful gang promotion. During a preliminary hearing, Gray tries to skate around questions acknowledging criminal activity on the stand, trying to obfuscate the reality from the jury with barely any admissions of amoral actions and certainly steering acknowledgment away from the crimes. But he was confronted with being a high-class thug down to starting a fake Palos Verdes Concerned Citizens "coalition" to reinforce the Crew's turf wars.
When the judge rules all defendants can got to trial, Gray is appalled the prosecution wants him to take a deal to sell out the gang to avoid prison time. When told Carlton cold easily get the same deal to imprison Gray, Gray relents and admits he saw Carlton burning the wetsuit and money covered in blood. This is enough for all three members to take guilty pleas regarding Trevor's killing.
