Gregory Rossovitch was an ex-mobster who hid from the mob in Witness Protection with his son Nikolai Rossovitch, who became a serial rapist to avenge himself and Gregory after the mob ruined their lives.
Background[]
Gregory married a woman named Anna Rossovitch, who was born into a California chapter of the Russian mafia, the two of them having a son named Nikolai. With Gregory's experience in accounting, he was recruited and blackmailed into the family business, working with Anna and rising up the ranks, getting kickbacks they supported their family with. When Anna got greedy and began stealing from the mob's operations, she was killed with a car bomb, making Gregory fear for his and his son's lives more than ever. At the first chance he got, he turned himself in to Witness Protection to protect his family, confiding all he did and knew in exchange for his family being disguised and relocated. The mob would always be on their trail, killing people close to them or in their vicinity, including their friends, work colleagues, and even Gregory's parents, but they could never get past the U.S. Marshals. Nikolai took too much pressure and once blew their cover by revealing his name, being scared into keeping silent by their liaisons. Gregory tried to be of comfort to his son, once sitting by the window with a gun at the same time he said to Nikolai "someday", but this wasn't successful. He became especially concerned when Nikolai was diagnosed with diabetes.
The family was relocated to New York and opened a gym under the names "Peter and Gavin Sipes", accordingly. Grown into a teenager, Nikolai had a gambling addiction which Gregory kept funding. But when Nikolai kept losing and begged for more money to wager, Gregory cut him off, even though Nikolai's bookie Joe Tucci threatened to kill Nikolai if the debts weren't met. With Nikolai's hatred of the mob growing, that finally snapped him and led to Nikolai raping the women of the mob for revenge.
Disappearing Acts[]
After Nikolai's third rape, the family is tracked and Gregory becomes a suspect when it's found out Nikolai has diabetes. When their covers are blown, the families are relocated immediately, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Claudia Williams refusing to release them with how their lives were endangered. The detectives, however do get a sample of Gregory's DNA to compare to the evidence collected at the scenes. It's not a match, other than in familial DNA, which reveals Nikolai as the rapist. Gregory's brought in for questioning, where he at first denies it but then caves into facing it and says he doesn't understand why Nikolai would always be so rebellious. He then goes into the family's history and mob activity and is insisted by the team to agree with a plan to lure Nikolai out for an arrest. Nikolai made his own move of getting his debts paid in cash once he revealed to Pearlman the family's location over the phone. Assuming Pearlman just wanted to talk to Gregory, that would be a fatal mistake. Pearlman personally arrived and shot Gregory and the marshal watching over him dead, leading to Elliot Stabler and Olivia Benson being arrested and interrogated on suspicion from being at the scene. Nikolai was eventually tracked and arrested, admitting to all his crimes and mistakes. He was detained into protective custody as a material witness, but Pearlman sent a mercenary to shoot and kill him too, leading his freedom of charges without bias. (SVU: "Disappearing Acts")
