Law and Order

Helen DeVries is the editor of murdered adult film star Samantha Savage. DeVries had a feud with Savage because of Savage's transfer between publishers, making her a suspect.

She was also dating Arnie Maclaren. When DeVries found out via a bedroom pic that Maclaren was also seeing Savage on the side, she confronted him, and he went to confront Savage. He ended up killing her in her apartment. She was questioned after Savage's murder, and when the police suspected her, Maclaren had her framed by Pete Milligan planting blood evidence in her car, and having a false, coerced witness Walter Parks finger her as leaving the scene of the crime.

DeVries was arrested and charged with Savage's murder, eventually making bail.

She was later found murdered as well. It was revealed Detective Milligan killed her on the orders of MacLaren. When the DA's office ended up discovering she'd been secretly meeting him in his extra apartment, they deduced he was sleeping with her. Suspicion started falling on him, so he had Helen killed to cover up their affair, and to prevent her from telling anyone about him and Savage.

All guilty parties were found and penalized once the conspiracy unraveled. (L&O: "Publish and Perish")
