Helena Navarro is a con artist and the girlfriend of partner in crime of Shep Watson. The couple colluded with real estate heir Jason Bregman to fake his kidnapping to ransom Jason’s father Sol, the couple being promised a cut of the profits. Navarro and Watson were arrested from evidence tying their crimes together, including their aliases from past records. Jason was recovered after Watson shot him and left him to die.
The couple sold out Jason, so he took a second-degree larceny plea to testify against the couple. Navarro and Watson were found not guilty of second-degree attempted murder, but guilty of first-degree larceny. The couple were imprisoned, but Jason fled justice with Sol’s assistance.
