Henry Franklin Winkler is an actor who guest-starred on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in the episode "Greed" as Edward Crandall.
Winkler is best known for his role as Arthur "Fonzie" Fonzarelli on the sitcom Happy Days. He appeared as the Fonzie character in Happy Days spin-offs like Laverne & Shirley (with Cindy Williams) and Mork & Mindy (with Robin Williams). Winkler later starred on the TV shows Out of Practice (with Ty Burrell and Paula Marshall) and Childrens Hospital (with Rob Corddry) and also had recurring roles on The Practice, Arrested Development, Numb3rs, Royal Pains (with Mark Feuerstein, Jill Flint, Willa Fitzgerald, Dan Lauria, and Ben Shenkman), Parks and Recreation and Better Late Than Never. He also produced the ABC original series MacGyver (1985–1992) and the CBS reboot series MacGyver (2016–2021).
In 1996, he appeared in his friend Wes Craven's 1996 film Scream as foul-mouthed high school principal Arthur Himbry (with Skeet Ulrich, Matthew Lillard, and Rose McGowan). His role was uncredited, however, as the producers were concerned that he would only be seen as The Fonz, and thus distract from the film. After it was screened, though, and audiences responded well to his role in it, he was asked to do publicity for Scream.
He appeared as Jack Potter in the 1997 television film Dad's Week Off (with Olivia d'Abo).
His most recent role is Gene Cousineau on the dark comedy series Barry (2018–present; with Glenn Fleshler), for which he won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.
He is the maternal first cousin of actor Richard Belzer.
