Hope Elizabeth Newhall is a rape victim of pro basketball player Ken Jackson.
History[]
Hope met Jackson at a college party she went to with friends and he went to without his wife Tiffany. Hope was sought after by Jackson and flirted with her, getting her alone to kiss her, but he was going too fast and doing too much for her. Saying she wanted to leave under the lie she wanted a drink, Jackson pulled out a knife and eagerly orally raped Hope, verbally degrading her. Jackson then offered her a ride home, implying he wanted to know she wanted more from him. Hope reported the rape to campus police, but the university and sports team threatened her with expulsion for underage drinking if she told.
After Jackson raped and murdered Lauren Ford, the prosecution found Hope’s report and questioned her. She gave the details of the rape and cover-up, and with the demonstration of a pattern of conduct, her testimony is one of several offered in Jackson’s trial to demonstrate. However, because Lauren was murdered with a different weapon than Hope was threatened with, her testimony was barred. Jackson was still convicted anyway. (L&O: "Pattern of Conduct")
