Ian Somerhalder (born Ian Joseph Somerhalder on December 8, 1978 in Covington, Louisiana) is an actor best known for his roles as Boone Carlyle on Lost (with Naveen Andrews, Maggie Grace, Malcolm David Kelley, Harold Perrineau, Daniel Dae Kim, and Terry O'Quinn) and as Damon Salvatore on The Vampire Diaries (with Paul Wesley, Matthew Davis, Michael Malarkey, Marguerite MacIntyre, Lauren Cohan, and Sebastian Roché). He also starred in the film The Rules of Attraction (with James Van Der Beek, Kip Pardue, and Shannyn Sossamon).
He played Charlie Baker, a spree killer, in the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episode "Dominance".
