Background information and Notes[]
- Cynthia Nixon appears as a character named Amanda Rollins, apparently unrelated to the Amanda Rollins who would later appear in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, which Nixon also guest-starred in.
- Robert Goren apologizes to Dr. Paula Gyson for losing his temper at their last therapy session in "Cadaver".
- A number of similarities and references to the production of the musical Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark were made in this episode including the following:
- The production of Spider-Man was noted for a number of accidents to its actors that occurred during the rehearsal and preview performances. The production of Icarus is similarly troubled.
- Spider-Man incorporates elements from Greek mythology; in the case of Spider-Man, the myth of Arachne is referenced. The musical Icarus is based on the Greek myth, and director Amanda Rollins previous work also reference other Greek myths as well.
- Spider-Man also had music created by noted rock musicians, Bono and The Edge from the band U2. The Icarus musical had a rock musician, Adam Winter, working on its music.
- Goren compares the Icarus musical to Spider-Man in front of producer Evan Korman.
- Goren also compared director Amanda Rollins to Spider-Man director Julie Taymor.
