Inwood is the northernmost neighborhood on the island of Manhattan in New York City. It is near The Bronx borough.

The murder of David Kellen lead her and her partner in the Major Case Squad, Detective Robert Goren, to investigate a woman he dated, Vanessa Colway, a teacher from Inwood. The opening of a new sex offender section of the Spuyten Duyvil Homeless Shelter in Inwood coincided with a string of rapes in the area.
