Jacob Peters is an arsonist who was a suspect in the murder of Kathy Stabler.

History[]

Peters was arrested by Intelligence after he threw a Molotov cocktail into an NYPD van three blocks away from the crime scene. He was brought to the SVU precinct where he was interrogated by Fin and Rollins. Benson, along with Carisi and Kat, explain that Jacob is an unemployed criminal with five arrests in the past year for protesting, arson, vandalism, brandishing a weapon and assaulting reporters. Kat says his google search shows that he's been watching conspiracy videos for years. Jacob is identified as an instigator and they found explosives, zip ties and a taser in his backpack. However, Jacob still denies that he murdered Kathy. Stabler arrives at the precinct and sees that they have collared a suspect. Stabler asks for Benson to allow him to interrogate Jacob. However, Benson refuses and Stabler promises to behave. Benson allows Stabler to interrogate Jacob, but she will be watching him.

Jacob starts to antagonize Stabler during the interrogation and Stabler starts to get frustrated. Benson is worried that Stabler will start a fight with the suspect, so she asks him if he needs a break. Jacob continuously antagonizes Stabler and Stabler pushes him to get a confession out of him. Benson loudly states that Stabler is done interrogating Jacob. Stabler attempts to leave the room, but Jacob continues to agitate. Stabler angrily makes a move for Jacob, but Benson interferes and asks Stabler to leave the room. It is unknown if Jacob was arrested for the crimes he committed or if he was free to go. When Barba cross-examined Benson at Richard's trial for Kathy's murder, Barba asked her if she apprehended a suspect on the night of the bombing named Jacob Peters. Benson then stated that Jacob was charged with the bombings of two police vans three blocks away from where the bombing occurred. Barba then used the fact that Benson let Stabler interrogate Jacob, which almost resulted in Stabler assaulting Jacob, against her to prove a point. (SVU: "People Vs Richard Wheatley")
