- Murtaugh and actor Peter Scanavino were the first actors to have appeared in all five of the New York City-based shows of the Law & Order franchise, though as different characters. Fred Dalton Thompson had appeared as Arthur Branch in four shows as well as Conviction, which is also part of the franchise through series regular Alexandra Cabot, who was previously a series regular in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Carolyn McCormick has also appeared as Elizabeth Olivet on four shows as well as New York Undercover, which is similar to the franchise in terms of subject matter but ultimately its own separate continuity.
