James Rebhorn was an actor who played three different characters in Law & Order. He is probably best known for playing Defense Attorney Charles Garnett in five episodes as well as his role on the movie Independence Day (with Judd Hirsch) as Secretary of Defense Albert Nimziki and Meet The Parents (with Teri Polo) as Dr. Larry Banks.
He was also known for his roles as Special Agent in Charge Reese Hughes in White Collar (with Tim DeKay, Titus Welliver, and Treat Williams) and Frank Mathison, the father of CIA agent Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) and Maggie Mathison (Amy Hargreaves) in the Showtime Drama series Homeland (with Mandy Patinkin).
On March 21, 2014, in South Orange, New Jersey, at 65 years of age, Rebhorn passed away as a result of complications from melanoma.
