Law and Order

Jay Watson is a man who participated in a flash-mob robbery and raped Natalie Ross during the chaos.

History[]

After another flash-mob participant, Travis Butler, gives up Jay, Jay is arrested and taken into the precinct. Natalie then gets called in to identify Jay in a lineup, which she does. After Benson realizes that the bathing suit that Natalie was wearing should have had a liner, Benson testifies about the liner and the fact that it had Jay's DNA on it. Jay's attorney Mason Carter then tries to claim racism.

After Natalie testifies at Jay's trial, Natalie recants her statement and explains to Carisi that she froze because Jay's suit doesn't fit. Natalie then ends up returning to court to recant her original recantation and properly testify against Jay. Ultimately, she identifies him as the rapist. Carter decides to make a plea with Carisi before Jay comes in and admits that he raped Natalie. Jay explains that it was meant to be a robbery only, but since none of the other flash-mob participants were paying any attention to him, he didn't know why it would be any different. Jay is later convicted of Natalie's rape and imprisoned. (SVU: "Truth Embargo")
