Jenny Mays is the mother of her son Alex Mays, who she kidnapped from his foster parents after Jenny lost Alex to Social Services from suffering a crack addiction. The social worker responsible, Lawrence Bello was a racist believing a white family was better for Alex, so Jenny sent her boyfriend Michael Walters to shake Bello down. Bello resisted, and Michael stabbed him to death.
Jenny successfully found Alex anyway, but before she could leave the country with him, she was arrested. Her defense attorney, Paul Robinette, argued a deliberate campaign of cultural genocide against black families to forcibly assimilate their children into white upbringings, which was no less safer than an upbringing from their birth families and ethnic backgrounds.
Jenny successfully achieved an acquittal, but as Robinette made his point in the trial, he agreed to plea Jenny out to less sever penalties. Her current legal status is unknown. (L&O: “Custody”)
