Jerome Davis was a double mass murderer diagnosed with dyslexia responsible for nine murders at the behest of his girlfriend Tamara Bates.
Background[]
Jerome was diagnosed with dyslexia at an early age and constantly bullied in school and considered to be below average intelligence due to his failing grades from his inability to read clearly and concisely. The schools he went to neglected to notice his strong suits in creative and spatial thinking to compensate for his more direct learning deficits. Jerome grew to have a criminal record in and out of prison, and amidst his daily grounds, he met Tamara Bates, who had several abusive previous relationships. The two started dating, with Jerome taking a more submissive and devoted role, which Bates willfully manipulated. She was involved in drug rings with massive funding she wanted to steal and convinced Jerome to join her in her plots, falsely promising to live off the drug money with him when she really just saw him as means to her desired ends.
Stray[]
While Bates was in custody for shoplifting, she let Jerome in on a buy with a major payout, ordering him to stake out the weapons exchange and kill everyone in the car with the gun money. To this end, Jerome hid in the woods near the car's route and made a path to get to and escape from the site he'd attack the car. He ended up shooting four men dead and stealing the payment, escaping without a hitch except for the marks in the sand while he lied in wait and traced the path with his finger to remind himself using his spatial thinking. Two of the men were undercover narcotics officers, assigned to infiltrate the operation and report to their squad when they were ready to arrest the perpetrators they were luring to an arrest.
Bates was released and met up with Jerome for their next bounty at the hideout for the ring where they counted their packages and cash, a pick having been fashioned manually from metal for Jerome to unlock the bathroom window and get inside. The plan worked flawlessly for getting Jerome in and shooting all the cartel members inside. When they both jumped out the fire escape, Bates broke her ankle when she had to jump, causing her to need medical attention from one of her exes, a paramedic. Jerome and Bates later hid in a hotel and discussed their plans. Bates kept Jerome from getting mad when he thought the pizza man was insulting him from his dyslexia, saying he didn't "have his glasses". They ate and had sex, with Jerome tracing a map of Times Square on the pizza box as their reconvening location, leaving the box behind for detectives.
The detectives showed up at the meeting pace and arrested the duo on the spot. They were placed in separate cells, then transferred to sit cuffed next to each other on a bench, where Goren confronted them both. He talked about their lives and relationship, then revealed Jerome's dyslexia Goren caught onto from the maps he made and his school records. He then pulled out a phone number and revealed it was the paramedic Bates called, trying to get Jerome to realize Bates' manipulation and tried to have him confront Bates by demanding she read the number. When she stayed silent, Jerome lost it and screamed at her she used him and ratted her out. She tried to pin everything on Jerome and said he was another abused, but he gave a full confession and frantically screamed he'd get the death penalty for shooting the two cops out of his own terror of death. The two were separated and booked.
Whilst Tamara is serving a life sentence in Bedford Hills without parole, Jerome was executed for nine counts of first-degree murder.
