Jerry Gans is a far-right militant involved with the Patriot Rangers, a group he would participate with. He was suspected in the murder of political campaigner Jim Landy, refusing to cooperate with police out of aggressive paranoia. He was arrested for possession of volatile substance on terrorism statutes, but he only took Landy’s camera in his bag and threatened him into leaving.
The Patriot Rangers arrived to stop Gans’ arrest, but Van Buren personally warned of arrests and shooting to kill if the protesting militia intervened. The Rangers later rioted against McCoy during a Town Hall, along with the Rights Alliance Foundation employees Landry worked for.
Gans was absolved of killing Landy, but he was sentenced to probation for robbery and obstruction of justice. (L&O: “Fed”)
