Law and Order

Jim Turner is an abuser who convinced his son Kyle to sexually assault a teammate in a boys' locker room.

History[]

Jim strove for perfection and wanted his boys to be the best hockey players they could. Behind his ambition for sports, Jim was an abusive man who abused Kyle physically and verbally. Frequently, his wife Helen had thoughts about leaving him and taking him but Jim would either mow her mother's lawn or pay for her arthritis medication, which would make Helen happy and convince her to stay with him.

In 2017, Jim convinced his son Kyle to sexually assault a teammate named Jack Wilson, who he blamed for the team losing the latest game. Things took a turn for the worst when the boy died, and Kyle was arrested for manslaughter and sexual assault. Kyle's brother Adam is upset about this and takes it out on Jim. In response, Jim beats him with a hockey stick and then runs away. Unbeknownst to Jim, Adam had the entire incident recorded on video on his cellphone as proof of Jim's abusive behavior. He eventually meets Kyle at the hockey stadium and the detectives arrest him.

Off-screen, Jim was convicted of first-degree rape, first-degree murder, and two counts of first-degree assault and was sentenced to life imprisonment without possibility of parole in maximum security. (SVU: "Great Expectations")
