Joe Dawson is a member of Tau Omega Fraternity at Tompkins Square University and a rapist who gang-raped a girl named Alyson alongside serial rapist Travis Holmes.

When Travis and two other students and serial rapists, Carter Pressman and Wesley Grimes, raped Lindsay Bennett, Joe tried to help her following the rape. When Lindsay committed suicide, a guilt-ridden Joe gave the SVU the evidence needed to convict Travis, Carter, and Wesley. He then admitted his own culpability in the crimes.
For his cooperation, he was sentenced to the minimum term in prison for his participation in the gang-rape of Alyson. (SVU: "Girl Dishonored")
