Law and Order

Joe Gilbert was a cab driver for the City of New York. He made his nephew Ethan, join a "fight club", which led to his death.

History[]

Joe previously spent time in prison for fraud and got a job as a taxi driver after his release. At some point, he came to $147,000 in debt from compulsive gambling.

Joe's brother died sometime later, and he took his nephew Ethan under his wing, teaching him how to fight. However, Joe forced the young boy to participate in a illegal fight club for kids while betting on who would win the fights and preventing his nephew from telling his mother about his occasional bruises.

Eventually, one of the fighters prove too much for Ethan who ended up suffering heavy wounds, he would later die from. After Ethan's body was found, Joe was found through surveillance footage that showed Ethan got out of his taxi and he told the detectives that he was the child's uncle. He and his sister-in-law mourned Ethan.

After his role in the fighting is uncovered, Joe is brought in for questioning. Joe is confronted with the evidence against him and is devastated that his betting cost Ethan his life, breaking down in guilt. He is subsequently imprisoned for his crimes of child endangerment and murder facilitation.
