Joe Morton is an actor who played three different characters in Law & Order and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. He is probably best known for his recurring role as Defense Attorney Leon Chiles on Law & Order.
He also guest-starred on two episodes of Homicide: Life on the Street as Sam Thorne and an episode of New York Undercover as Dinah/Jean.
In 2014, Morton won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Eli "Rowan" Pope, Olivia Pope's (Kerry Washington) father, in Scandal from 2012 to 2018 (with Tony Goldwyn, Bellamy Young, Joshua Malina, Guillermo Díaz, Scott Foley, Kate Burton, Dylan Minnette, and George Newbern), and is known for playing the role of Henry Deacon on the popular TV series Eureka.
From 2018–2020, Morton appeared in the CBS series God Friended Me as Rev. Arthur Finer (with Erica Gimpel). He then starred on the show Our Kind of People (with Yaya DaCosta).
He appeared in the films Terminator 2: Judgement Day (with Robert Patrick and S. Epatha Merkerson) as Dr. Miles Dyson (a role later played by Courtney B. Vance) and Justice League (and Zack Snyder's Justice League) as Dr. Silas Stone (with Jeremy Irons, Ezra Miller, Connie Nielsen, and J.K. Simmons and Harry Lennix in the Snyder cut).
