Joey Field is the son of a notorious lawyer and the boyfriend of psychopath Missy Kurtz, later being her accomplice in the rape and murder of her sister, Rebecca.

Biography[]

Joey would always be oppressed and manipulated by Missy, being repeatedly seduced and rejected to make him suggestible. When Missy couldn't stand her sister, Rebecca, who was born into a family Missy was first adopted into, seemed to get more attention and affection, she turned her envy and rage into regularly gang-raping Rebecca with Joey when she was asleep.

One day, Rebecca woke up and, horrified and pained by the torture, said she would tell their parents, Peter and Raquel, which cause Missy to recruit Joey in a new criminal plan. Finding a lower-class student with a drunken father, Eric Campbell, Missy recruited the two boys in a staged robbery and murder meant to silence Rebecca for good. Joey went along with it by Missy's seduction, Campbell being paid with a gold necklace Missy was given by her adoptive parents as a present, which Campbell pawned for new technology in his room.

Bringing Rebecca to Joey's job at the video store, Eric Campbell comes in with a ski mask and a gun, demanding the money from the cash register in a "stickup". Then he turned to try and shoot Rebecca, but he instead killed pedestrian John Marcum outside the store. Stepping closer, he then took of his mask and critically shot Rebecca, only for Joey to shoot Campbell dead with his boss's gun in the desk to look like the "hero", while Missy "cried" over Rebecca while she was clinging to life.

It almost worked: Rebecca was diagnosed with gonorrhea at the hospital, before a more through exam of her while on life support revealed her scars and wounds from being raped, just before her liver was donated to a boy in Philadelphia. After Peter is cleared due to a fake allegation Missy made from being repeatedly raped by her biological father and his friends, it's revealed Missy was treated for the disease, leading to her accusing Joey of raping Rebecca, and herself to add to the lie, as well as arranging the murders.

Joey is met at his home by Benson and Stabler under the false pretense of having an "award" for his role in the shootings. When they get him to step off his property, he's immediately arrested without a warrant, with his father, Malcolm, telling him to not say a word and representing him as his council. Despite Malcolm knowing the judge, Joey's remanded without bail. He's arranged to get the death penalty while being accused as the mastermind of all the crimes, Missy being granted immunity to testify against Joey.

It all falls apart when in Joey's possessions is a tape of Missy and him raping Rebecca while she's unconscious. The immunity deal blundered the more direct chances to prosecute Missy instead, but Joey provides his testimony in custody: he never wanted to go along with it, but the rapes and shooting were Missy's idea, using her allure and blackmailing Joey with false accusations if he refused or reported her. They catch a break with crucial evidence to put the crimes on Missy: the necklace Campbell pawned is still at the shop, and it's engraved with "To Missy, with love, from Mom and Dad".

Joey takes a plea bargain and offers his testimony so Missy gets charged with the majority of the crimes instead. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison for three counts of manslaughter. (SVU: "Damaged")
