John M. Slattery Jr. is an actor who is known for appearing in television shows such as Homefront (with Dick Anthony Williams), Desperate Housewives, Jack and Bobby (with Christine Lahti and Bradley Cooper), and Mad Men (with Michael Gladis, January Jones, Vincent Kartheiser, Elisabeth Moss, and Rich Sommer). He also appeared as the elder version of the character Howard Stark in the Marvel films Iron Man 2 (with Clark Gregg, Samuel L. Jackson, and Sam Rockwell), Ant-Man (with Bobby Cannavale, Martin Donovan, Anthony Mackie, and Corey Stoll), Captain American: Civil War (with Chadwick Boseman, Hope Davis, Frank Grillo, Sebastian Stan, and Emily VanCamp), and Avengers: Endgame (with Jackson, Boseman, Stan, Cooper, Winston Duke, Danai Gurira, Zoe Saldana, and Benedict Wong).
He has appeared in two episodes of Law & Order in different roles. He was also up for the role of Elliot Stabler on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, which ended up going to Christopher Meloni.[1]
He is married to actress Talia Balsam, who appeared in the Law & Order episodes "Consultation" as Turner and "Remand" as Teri Marks and the Law & Order: Criminal Intent episode "Wrongful Life" as Victoria Carson, since 1998 (who also played his on-screen wife, Mona, in Mad Men); they have one son together, Harry Slattery. They live in SoHo, Manhattan. He is the son-in-law of actress Joyce Van Patten, who guest-starred in the Law & Order episode "Extended Family" as Ramona Stark and cousin-in-law of actress Grace Van Patten, who guest-starred as Jodie Lanier in the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episode "October Surprise".
