Jolene is the sister and personal assistant of reality celebrity Lorelai Mailer and revealed to be her killer, motivated out of jealousy and being unable to share Lorelei's limelight, despite Lorelei trying to provide it for Jolene. She killed Lorelei after her son, Justin Holland, was poisoned with methadone by her manager and boyfriend, Ronnie Chase, to get closer to Lorelei in her relationship. Jolene figured Lorelei's death from methadone and antidepressants would be pinned on Chase.
As Jolene became more unhinged, she had Lorelei's dog euthanized just for urinating on the floor. When Chase was released from custody, She had a psychotic breakdown and threatened to throw Ava, Lorelei's baby daughter, off the apartment balcony. Chase, under the pressure of the situation, confessed to Justin's murder and was arrested. When Jolene settled down enough, she admitted to Lorelei's murder. She was persuaded to give Ava back by appealing to Jolene adoring the baby's innocence. Jolene was then taken into custody, arrested, and hospitalized.
