Jonathan Edward Bernthal is an actor who guest-starred on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Law & Order: Criminal Intent.

He is best known for his portrayals of Shane Walsh on the AMC horror series The Walking Dead (2010–2012; 2018) with Sarah Wayne Callies, Emma Bell, Lauren Cohan, Norman Reedus and Emily Kinney and Frank Castle/The Punisher on the Netflix action series The Punisher (2017–2019) with Ebon Moss-Bachrach as David "Micro" Lieberman, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Kelli Barrett as Maria Castle, Paul Schulze as William Rawlins, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio as Marion James, Annette O'Toole as Eliza Schultz and Corbin Bernsen as Anderson Schultz and Daredevil (2015–2018) with Woll, Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Fisk, Peter McRobbie as Father Paul Lantom, Amy Rutberg as Marci Stahl, Michelle Hurd as DA Samantha Reyes, and Geoffrey Cantor as Mitchell Ellison. In 2021, he starred as Giovanni "Johnny Boy" Soprano (a role originally played by Joseph Siravo on The Sopranos), the father of Tony Soprano, in the upcoming American crime drama film The Many Saints of Newark (with Corey Stoll, John Magaro, Vera Farmiga, Leslie Odom, Jr., and Billy Magnussen) directed by Alan Taylor and written by David Chase and Lawrence Konner as a prequel to Chase's HBO crime drama series The Sopranos. He also appeared as Blake in the Netfilx drama film The Unforgivable (with Vincent D'Onofrio and Viola Davis).
