Dr. Joseph Soltice is a medical lab worker and a specialist in DNA fabrication, which involves splicing DNA from any sample of blood drained of its DNA.
History[]
Soltice found extra pay in leasing the service for criminal frame jobs, by using his specialty in fabricating DNA for criminals seeking to escape justice. He kept a long list of clients, including to serial rapist Brady Harrison who sought to frame Olivia Benson for the murder of Clyde Vandyne, Harrison's rapist in prison and a gang biker. Harrison had carried out the murder and bore a grudge against Benson for his previous arrest, supplying Soltice with her DNA to implicate her.
SVU discovered Soltice associating with Harrison and orchestrated a sting where Det. Odafin Tutuola bribed him to trace Harrison, then arrested Soltice when it was found out about the long list of wrongful incriminations. After Harrison was arrested, Soltice was confronted on his actions, being criticized for his role in Harrison's crimes and for opening possibilities for criminals to claim they were set up in their crimes. Unrepentant, he just brags to Stabler and Benson that it was too easy and that the detectives can't treat DNA evidence as easy anymore.
He is ultimately sentenced to life imprisonment for falsifying evidence, bribery and accessory to criminal activity. (SVU: "Perverted")
Known Victims[]
- Numerous unnamed people (all wrongfully framed for crimes they didn't commit with tampered DNA samples)
