Joyce Hingham is the mother of Andrew Hingham, who ran out of the house and lived on the streets when he couldn't stand his home life.

Joyce and her ex-husband Phil had four children who were raised until they were out of the house. However, Phil abandoned her for California after she unexpectedly got pregnant with their fifth child Andrew and he refused to raise another child after raising Andrew's siblings. Joyce struggled to raise Andrew on her own, since she was exhausted from raising her other children but she still loved him. Eventually got into an accident and was prescribed painkillers, which she became addicted to. Andrew started having sessions with psychotherapist Fran Stanton. Exploiting Andrew's lack of a parental figure, she would over-prescribe and misdiagnose Andrew to make him more susceptible, then started molesting him and eventually raping Andrew starting when he was thirteen, giving birth to a child they sired.
After Andrew was separated from his girlfriend Mallory Sidwell, he got fed up and would constantly run away from home, soon meeting gay street con artist Jack Robinson and learning to have his own resilience, even assisting Robinson in his cons. When Robinson attempted to orally rape Andrew, it triggered Andrew's trauma pushed him back and killed him when he hit is head. Andrew fled after smashing Robinson's face and leaving his own ID so it would seen like Andrew died. Joyce was distraught, but when Andrew was revealed alive, she was even more worried about where he was. Once Andrew was arrested, Joyce was confronted on her treatment of him and defended herself as trying to be the best parent she could be. She denied posting his bail and was confused that he was released.
He was found at Stanton's house and cleared of murder, but the worst came when Stanton's rapes were revealed, which led to Stanton's arrest. Joyce was at the courthouse, reunited with Andrew and seen holding her new grandchild. Joyce watched as Stanton was barred from Andrew by filing a false rape report in Mallory's name against Andrew.
