Law and Order

Juan Ortoli is a criminal who kidnapped Noah Porter-Benson and brought him to Sheila Porter.

History[]

Ortoli owned a gardening company and was married before he lost his wife. As a result, he raised his daughter by himself. For fourteen years, Juan befriended Sheila and plotted Noah's kidnapping with her after hearing about allegations that Lieutenant Olivia Benson abused Noah (due to a bruise being left after saving him from being hit by a car). When Sheila turned around in a store, Juan took Noah, changed his jacket, and put him in his car. He then met up with Sheila and passed him on. Detectives Rollins and Carisi later found out about this involvement and interrogated him in his house, demanding to know where Sheila and Noah are.

Rollins threatened to arrest his daughter Maria, distressing both Juan and Maria. Maria later became angry and insulted her father, demanding he tell the police where Sheila was. Rollins snapped and started taking a frantic Maria away, prompting Juan to confess. It was also implied that Juan and Sheila were romantically involved because he stated that they were going to go to Montreal and be a family.

Maria was set free and Juan took Carisi and Rollins to Sheila and Noah's location. However, Juan took the police to the wrong cabin, angering Carisi and Rollins. The police eventually found Benson, Sheila, and Noah together; and Juan was charged. (SVU: "Gone Baby Gone")
