Julie Keaton is the ex-girlfriend of Carter Mills, who was a suspect in the rapes and murders of two women.
History[]
When Georgia Kent is raped and then murdered three days later, the police investigate Carter, who mentions that his girlfriend is a lawyer. It is later discovered that he was also the suspect in the rape-murder of Christina Maroun. After being found not guilty, he is murdered a few days later. Christina's sister, ADA Samantha Maroun, immediately becomes the prime suspect in his death due to having motive and not cooperating with EADA Price's question about if she did it. Eventually, Maroun is cleared of suspicion when the man who ran into the suspected shooter described the murderer as being short while Samantha is 5'3". The police eventually suspect Keaton after discovering that she broke up with Carter three days before the trial. Keaton initially claims that they broke up due to them having too much hatred for each other. Lieutenant Brady arrests her and brings her in for questioning. Keaton says that she bought a .38 revolver six hours before Carter's murder, thus bringing her to court. She is also revealed to have been wearing the same kind of hoodie the killer wore just 12 minutes after police responded to Mills' shooting.
Price works on the defense and says that since the evidence surrounding the case is so damning, she is most surely guilty. However, her lawyer argues that it was not murder, but rather self-defense to protect herself against Carter. Since she knew about Carter's allegations, she had every right to kill him. Keaton defends herself and reveals that she loved him, but when she broke it off, he insulted her before choking her and raping her. While walking on the street, he noticed her and bragged about getting away with it; she then shot him when he walked towards him. Due to extreme emotional disturbance, Keaton agrees to plead down to first-degree manslaughter. She then suddenly confesses to Samantha that she intentionally tracked him down and killed him, contradicting her previous testimony, but Samantha decides to ignore this new confession.
