Julian Hayworth is a developer and architectural designer who runs Hayworth Groups, in the hopes of building a library with Hudson University for his late daughter Caroline. Julian’s grandson Max Purcell wanted a rush on the project for his gambling debts, so he sent armed burglars to shake down the tax office owner, Stan Harkavy, where the library was to be built in Spanish Harlem. It went horribly awry when Harkavy shot two of them dead.

Hayworth hired family attorney Otto Bradshaw when Purcell was arrested, and he elaborated the motives Purcell had for the plan. (L&O: “Shotgun”)
