Julianne Nicholson is an actress who is known for her portrayal of Detective Megan Wheeler on Law & Order: Criminal Intent.

Nicholson's pregnancy required her to leave the show temporarily for maternity leave during the show's first half of the seventh season. She was replaced by actress Alicia Witt (Detective Nola Falacci). She and her husband Jonathan Cake welcomed their first child, a son named Ignatius, in September 2007.

Before her time on Criminal Intent, Nicholson appeared in the Law & Order season eleven episode "All My Children" as Jessie Lucas.

Nicholson played ADA Christina Finn on Conviction.

Nicholson also played Jill Lansing on Law & Order True Crime.

Her husband, Jonathan Cake, appeared on three of the primary shows of the Law & Order franchise.

She created the role of "Jane" onstage in the World Premiere of Melissa James Gibson's play This at Playwrights Horizons from November 6-December 13, 2009.

She had recurring roles on Boardwalk Empire as Esther Randolph and Masters Of Sex as Dr. Lillian DePaul. She went on to star in the HBO miniseries The Outsider (with Bill Camp, Hettienne Park, Yul Vazquez, and Mare Winningham), based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, as Glory Maitland. Nicholson won her first Emmy for her role in Mare of Easttown (with Neal Huff).
