Julie Atkinson is the daughter of pedophile and child killer Thad Messimer. As Julie witnessed Messimer washing off the blood of a boy named Tommy Keegan, who Messimer had only then killed, Messimer would harass and degrade Julie all her life to take away her memories and any chance at owner to report him. Julie suffered depression and became estranged from family.
When Tommy was found and Messimer was suspected, he tried again to terrorize Julie into not testifying. But Dr. Olivet worked through her memories to confirm they were real and encouraged her to testify, which resulted in successfully convicting Messier. (L&O: “In Memory Of...”)
