Background Information and Notes[]
- This episode marked the 500th credited appearance of Ice-T as Odafin Tutuola, excluding crossover appearances on other shows and episodes in which he didn't appear in.
- Benson mentions how SVU took down some members of BX9 down in the summer which happened in the episode "The One You Feed".
- This episode marks the first part of a trilogy which continued in "Soldier Up" and concluded in "Blood Out".
- This is the first episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit where Olivia Benson is seen working with a visible bruise.
- This is the first episode actors Terry Serpico (as Tommy McGrath) and Kadia Saraf (as Anya Avital) appear in together since the two were married. They also contributed the story to this episode together.
- There is no real St. Genevieve's School for the Deaf. However, the Bronx has a St. Joseph's school in real life, which is likely the inspiration for the institute in this episode.
- Coincidentally, murder victim Roseann Quinn, who would later be an inspiration for the SVU episode "Secrets", was a teacher at the school around the time she was murdered.
