Kelly Sun is a business executive specializing in international relations. She was a victim of the serial rapist Eric Lutz.
History[]
While delivering diamonds for her job, Kelly was tracked at the airport by serial rapist Eric Lutz, where he spiked her drink, coerced her into a cab, and raped her at his brownstone. She was found in the park, stumbling disoriented near a baby in a stroller, the mother spotted Kelly and shouted at her. When Kelly faced the mother, her lingerie was exposed and blood was running down her thigh. Kelly weakly explained the baby was crying, while the mother realized she was confused and hurt. When she collapsed, the mother called for help and she was rushed to the hospital.
Because of the drink she was roofied with, scopolamine, she had no recollection of the rape, breaking down in tears because she feared she didn't watch out for herself as much as she usually protected herself. Lutz was eventually tracked, and to the horror of the detectives, he brought Sun flowers to see if she remembered him. Realizing Lutz raped her, Sun threw the vase in his direction and screamed for the detectives to arrest him. Kelly later watched the video that he made of her rape and told Benson that she needed to see what happened to her.
Lutz was arrested once revealed to be a serial rapist, and Sun presided with another woman who was raped, Laurel Andrews, at Lutz's arraignment and trial. Lutz was acquitted, to both their horrors and that of the SVU, so the detectives tracked his ex-fiance, Shannon Browning, who was also raped but instead threatened her life for her to keep silent. Laurel and Kelly stood with her while Lutz just snarled at them because he was finally going to prison. As the three women walked out, Lutz screamed his own inflated rants to brag about raping them while he is detained. Sun is the only one who smiled in content triumph. (SVU: "Smut")
