Kerry Marisa Washington is an American actress, producer, and director who played Allie Lawrence in Law & Order episode 3 Dawg Night.

She recently played as Olivia Pope in ABC drama series Scandal from 2011 to 2018 (with Tony Goldwyn, Bellamy Young, Joshua Malina, Guillermo Diaz, Kate Burton, Scott Foley, George Newbern, Dylan Minnette, Norm Lewis, and Joe Morton). She also appears as Olivia Pope in the Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder crossover episodes with Viola Davis as Annalise Keating: "Allow Me to Reintroduce Myself", which was directed by Tony Goldwyn and "Lahey v. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania" on its fourth season produced by Shonda Rhimes, where her character reprises her role a crisis manager who helped Annalise Keating get her class-action case heard by the Supreme Court.

For her role as Olivia Pope, she was twice nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series and once for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Television Series Drama. Her portrayal of Anita Hill in the HBO television political thriller film, Confirmation (2016), earned her a nomination for both the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie and the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Miniseries or Television Film. And for her role as Mia Warren in the Hulu miniseries Little Fires Everywhere (2020; with Rosemarie DeWitt) she was again nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie.

Time magazine included Washington in its Time 100 list of most influential people in 2014. In 2018, Forbes named her the eighth highest-paid television actress. Washington has won a Primetime Emmy Award and five NAACP Image Awards, including The President's Award.

She also starred in the film I Think I Love My Wife (with Gina Torres), as Alicia Masters in the 2005 Fantastic Four movie and its sequel, and the TV show Unprisoned (with Delroy Lindo). She also has a recurring voice role as Rayshelle Peyton on The Simpsons.

Washington married NFL player Nnamdi Asomugha on June 24, 2013 in Hailey, Idaho. They have a daughter, Isabelle Amarachi Asomugha (born April 21, 2014) and a son, Caleb Kelechi Asomugha (born October 5, 2016).
