Law and Order

Kevin Mulrooney is a former Assistant District Attorney and a murderer.

History[]

As a prosecutor, he had previously worked with Detective Eames trying to convict Boz Burnham for the death of his wife. This was the first case Eames worked on after her husband had died, with Mulrooney and Eames also becoming close on a personal level. However, they lost at trial and a possible romance never got a chance to start. Mulrooney quit working for the District Attorney's office as well.

Years later, Boz Burnham's dead body is discovered by the police. Mulrooney arrived at the scene and reintroduced himself to Eames. Mulrooney explains that he is there to assist them in Boz Burnham's murder investigation. Goren then brought up Burnham's missing wife but Mulrooney snaps back and blames the police for not finding a body. Later, at the precinct, Mulrooney approaches Eames and Eames pulls him aside, telling him, that he was a friend when she needed a friend, but things have changed.

Goren walks in with a map of the currents, claiming that it is likely Burnham was dumped off City Island. Mulrooney called it "the vacation capital of the world" and asks that they keep him up to date on the case. Later, when Mulrooney leaves, Goren asks Eames what her connection is to Mulrooney and asked her if she slept with him. Eames walked away without saying anything.

After digging deeper into Boz's life, Goren is watching a video of Mulrooney questioning someone for the first case with Burnham. Eames asked Goren what it is that he's watching and he tells her that there are things to still connect to the Burnham case. Goren then mentioned that Boz write mentioned a letter to Eames that she never told him about.

Later, Goren and Eames look into Mulrooney's file and in 7 years he wasn't listed as a legal counsel, according to court documents. They start to suspect Mulrooney for the murder after visiting his father, who tells them a little bit about Mulrooney and that Mulrooney stopped coming by after his mother was gone.

In evidence lockup, Mulrooney confessed to committing murder and was cuffed by Eames and imprisoned. (CI: "Lady's Man")
