Kim Hoffman was the first wife of Dan Hoffman and the biological mother of Tommy Hoffman.
History[]
She was regularly abused by her ex-husband Dan, a lauded citizen of their hometown of Rye, isolated from the world, and beaten even in front of Tommy. She escaped with the help of a friend but wanted to come back for Tommy. However, Kim backed out and felt he was better off without her when he was playing in the yard with Dan's second wife Jill.
Jill ran off with Tommy to escape the absue, only to be raped and murdered by Dan with Tommy as a witness. Kim was tracked down. She was devastated for Tommy over his ordeal, and when meeting him again, she apologized to Tommy for not returning sooner and reassured him she still loved him most of all.
She supported Tommy when he was asked to give testimony against Dan, who was shocked and angry to see her again. Her presence in court led to Dan's imprisonment, as Tommy was motivated to speak against him by revealing his witnessing of Dan's abuse of his mother and of Jill's murder.
Kim presumably took Tommy home with her to a better life. (SVU: "Desperate")
