Kyle Risko is a man who was sexually assaulted by a soccer coach in his youth. Kyle answered an ad by 24/7 Networks to participate in a new production, Confront and Heal, where Risko was paid to stay in an Upper West Side apartment while he was prepped for confronting the coach over the sex offenses. He and five other tenants, Hannah Welch included, were evaluated and counseled by therapists, kept diaries, were taught hand-to-hand combat, and acted out scenarios in psychodrama. All of them signed contracts and waivers. However, the network deemed the production "too soft", threw it out, and sent the six tenants packing.
When Welch killed family friend and rapist Carl Mullaly out of revenge for raping her, Risko was questioned as to how she was moved out of her home and placed in the flat at the expense of the network and the show's director, Ellie Harper. He didn't want to discuss everything at first, but he revealed the setup. Realizing Welch's motive for murder, it was used to give her a plea deal in exchange for testifying against Harper for a conviction of murder facilitation, which worked.
