After Stabler's undercover operation led to the death of his informant, Vargas was brought in by Bell to assist with the Los Santos case. Stabler ultimately disliked Vargas which he confessed to Bell. (OC: "Memory Lane")
During a case, Vargas made an AI reenactment of Tweaker's death. Vargas concluded that if Stabler didn't pull the lever up and stopped the car, Tweaker would have been alive. (OC: "Deliver Us From Evil")
While Bell and the squad went to protect the Pescador family, Vargas and Reyes worked the case from the precinct and surveilled the house. (OC: "The Last Supper")
After Stabler told Bell where Bashir's dead body was buried, Vargas went into the field for the first time with Reyes and ended up finding Bashir's body in the woods. (OC: "Crossroads")
Vargas went into the field again with the help of the rest of the task force in order to gain access to a server to track Emery's latest shipment. Vargas was successful, but they were spotted, which resulted in a shootout. (OC: "Goodnight")
