Larry Brunig is the killer of art sponsor Lucy Young.
History[]
Brunig was a struggling artist who, for reasons unknown, was set off by art depicting women missing body parts. When he was in a museum in Barcelona, he saw a Salvador Dalí painting with a headless woman also missing her hands and feet. After getting kicked out for protesting the painting, he was arrested for trying to vandalize the art with spray paint.
Artist Mark Vee recently released his painting Perfect Woman #3, showing a woman without hands and a mouth. He was again reviled and kicked out of the gallery once he made a scene, wanting to take his objections out of Lucy, the donor. Although he argued he wanted to talk to her after finding her address on the internet, Brunig forced his way into her apartment with a gun, knocked Lucy unconscious, and killed her by cutting her hands off while she was still alive, bleeding her to death. Brunig then put masking tape over her mouth and posed her just like the painting. Neighbors called the police when she bled through the floor to the apartment below.
Brunig was tracked and originally denied everything, but once he was arrested and taken to trial, he argued extreme emotional disturbance as a defense. The prosecution successfully convinced the jury against it. Burning was found guilty of first-degree murder and imprisoned. (L&O: “Untitled”)
