Larry Purcell is the father of Holly Purcell and the husband of her mother Sonya.

History[]

The family was in a severe car accident with a drunk driver but miraculously mad it out alive. Larry was in the driver's seat and suffered several fractures, needing to be sedated and wheeled into surgery with Sonya. Holly suffered mild injuries, but she screamed and flailed when the doctor had one of the nurses attempt to cut off her clothes. Dr. Rebecca Hendrix and a female doctor arrived to examine Holly, and she was barely harmed by the car accident but revealed to have been repeatedly raped. Since Larry and Sonya were unconscious, a court order was arranged to sedate Holly and conduct a full, deeper exam of her trauma, which only confirmed the sexual violence detectives suspected.

Larry and Sonya woke up and confirmed she lost her hymen due to a bicycling accident, but they were horrified to find out she was raped. Despite her trauma, the detectives were allowed to question Holly, who refused to reveal the rapist because he murdered another girl and threatened Holly and her family's lives. When Holly accused a friend of her parents, high school coach Mark Dobbins, and Mark was arrested, Larry and Sonya were both scarred and united with other parents bringing their kids forward to accuse Mark as well.

Holly recanted her allegations and revealed she spontaneously blamed Mark in a panic for her own safety from still being too afraid of the real rapist. The other parents admitted their kids were coerced by their own families to join in accusing Dobbins to keep him away from the school, and even Larry and Sonya owned up to their responsibility of stoking the panics that wrongfully incriminated Dobbins.

Larry and Sonya swore they'd protect Holly, but she still refused to name the rapist. Detectives went back through Holly's art therapy, and they found the rapist in the drawings: lacrosse player and student on Dobbins' team Kevin Wilcox, with a distinctive uniform matching the one in the drawings. Wilcox was arrested and admitted where the girl Wilcox murdered was buried, and Dobbins was fired with no chances at another school career. (SVU: "Contagious")
