Law and Order

Laurel Linwood is a woman who was suspected of being sexually assaulted but is later discovered to have murdered a man named Greg Harvey.

History[]

Laurel is brought to the SVU precinct after being found by a class of sixth-grade students on a field trip at the New York Natural History Museum. In the beginning, Laurel wouldn't give any information to the other detectives, so Lieutenant Benson took over the interrogation. As the day went on, Laurel gave few details to Benson about how she was raped. During the investigation, the detectives learned that Laurel met a man named Greg Harvey at a bar on the day of her father's funeral. After the detectives learned where Greg lived, they headed to his home and found him dead from a stab wound. Due to some of the things Laurel had said, the investigation into her rape became a murder investigation.

At that point, Laurel's sister, Leah, an attorney, became Laurel's legal counsel. During the interrogation, Benson brought up her attack on William Lewis. Then, Laurel revealed she walked in on Leah being molested by her father when she was six years old. This left Leah so upset that she left the room, claiming she was happy that their father was dead and believed Laurel was so mentally damaged that she didn't know the difference between family love and sexual abuse.

As Benson continued to talk to her, Laurel revealed how she was molested by her father as well while prodding into Benson's past with her own father. Benson then revealed she is a child of rape. In the end, Benson concluded Laurel was not molested by her father as she claimed, and that she made up the story because she was jealous of her sister. Although Laurel denied it at first, she eventually admitted to murdering Greg in a psychotic rage. As a result, Laurel was arrested for murder. (SVU: "Something Happened")
