Leslie Crocker Snyder is a lawyer and former judge and prosecutor, with decades of experience in the Manhattan district. Snyder is the first female prosecutor in the Manhattan District Attorney's Office to have prosecuted homicide, but her entire career in the New York City judicial system spanned a variety of cases, including homicides, sex crimes, and fraud, many of which were publicized.

Snyder has been a technical consultant for NBC, the primary network of the Law & Order franchise, providing her consultation for Law & Order and Law & Order: Trial by Jury. Several characters in the franchise, including Elizabeth Donnelly, Linda Karlin, and Sylvia Quinn, were inspired by her. In "Persona", Donnelly recounting her career history is reflective news stories that outline just the sort of history of Snyder, The Sixtysomething Upstart in New York Magazine, and The Upstart in The New Yorker.

She also guest-starred in three episodes in Law & Order as Arraignment Judge Rebecca Logan.
