Leslie Harlan is a kidnapping victim who later assisted her captor in a killing spree.
History[]
Leslie was kidnapped for ransom, which her parents paid, and yet still held captive and repeatedly raped by Leon Trapp and his cousin Eddie, with Eddie later being shot by Trapp. Traumatized into subjugation and afraid to fight back or leave from borderline Stockholm Syndrome, she was in Trapp's captivity for months.
Trapp then went on a spree and threatened and coerced Leslie to have her own participation, such as providing locations and transportation. When Trapp was shot dead in a justifiable shooting by a store clerk, Leslie was located and arrested, pleading for her parents to be called.
She revealed the torture and terror she suffered, but the District Attorneys office insisted on charging her with felony counts as an accomplice. Where the prosecution citing her rebellion in her teenage years and her partying lifestyle, she and the defense tried to plead she hated guns and she was afraid of Trapp raping her if she refused orders and hunting her down if she ran.
With more sympathy, the ADAs offer her a manslaughter plea where she'd be eligible for parole, which her parents begged her to take. She refused, confident the jury would accept her acquittal by insanity. Instead, the jury found her guilty on all four counts, and the defense arranged for psychiatric testimony for leniency in her sentencing which DA Adam Schiff suggested that his office wouldn't fight.
