Lester Hastings is a Miami defense attorney specializing in career criminals for clients.
History[]
Hastings charged high fees for his cases, and the defendants he represented, often drug dealers, would have the illicit spoils to pay him conveniently. He flew to New York City to represent Shep Watson and Helena Navarro for the kidnapping of Jason Bregman, where the prosecution accused him of being paid with the ransom money. Hastings rushed an ID by Jason, which failed, which amounted the case to circumstantial evidence. However, when the presentation was arranged to prove his clients’ guilt, Hastings had his clients reveal Jason staged the setup, giving tapes where Jason was rehearsing the ransom demands. Jason took a plea to testify against the couple, where Hastings tried to portray Jason as spoiled and incompetent to reduce his credibility. Watson and Navarro were nevertheless convicted of second-degree grand larceny. (L&O: "Snatched")
