Libby Blandon is a college student who was raped by Henry Mesner.
History[]
After Mesner was released from the psychiatric facility, Mesner targeted Libby due to her being the daughter of his psychiatrist. Mesner then raped, assaulted, tortured and attempted to murder Libby but Libby survived. Libby's unconscious body was discovered, and she was taken to the hospital. Libby was then questioned about her rape, and she explained her rape in detail to the detectives of the Manhattan Special Victims Unit. This resulted in the detectives suspecting Mesner of committing the crimes. (SVU: "Post-Graduate Psychopath")
Libby dropped out of school following her assault and had developed relationships with different men while using a fake name on SugarBabyz. After Libby woke up next to one of the men, Bijan Mazdani, she robbed him of several watches. The lead detective, Nadia Szabo from the Major Case Squad, managed to get the OCME to help her identify Libby by conspiring with a tech there to get access to Libby's rape kit. Libby was then identified and arrested by Szabo. Libby's attorney, Dara Miglani, became suspicious of how Libby was identified if she used a fake name and asked ADA Carisi to investigate. He asked Captain Benson to help, and Libby was then brought in by Benson and Carisi where she told them the story of her arrest.
Benson then discovered that Szabo gained access to Libby's rape kit by convincing the OCME to allow her to use it. Libby was then taken to trial where she pleaded not guilty to the charges. Knowing that using DNA from a rape kit for a prosecution would set a dangerous precedent, Benson and Lorraine Maxwell tried to convince D.A. Cassandra Drakos to drop the charges but Drakos refused to. However, Drakos later came to realize that carrying out the case could ruin her own career and decided dropped the case against Libby, as well as hide her and Szabo's exploitation of the OCME’s rape victim database by shifting blame onto the organization itself.
