Lila Crenshaw is a British au pair and a suspect in the murder of the infant she took care of, Evan Karmel.

History[]

Lila came to the U.S. to study art, needing to work and reside with the Karmels in the meantime. She was exasperated with caring for Evan among other problems and wanted to return home, but she couldn’t afford airfare. Evan was found dead in his crib, revealed to have been from poisoning.

Lila bought the very pesticide for her plants used to kill Evan the day before he died, and entries in her diary showing her exhaustion lead to her being charged with murder. The jury hangs on the first trial, but it’s revealed when Evan’s brother Ben Karmel lied he saw the pesticide before Lila bought the bottle in the first place, he is revealed to be Evan’s killer, out of jealousy for his father’s affections.

Lila is acquitted and released. (L&O: “Homesick”)
